we're hanging out in LA right now at one of Angel's friends from highschool. It's nice to have a place to just chill for while. I like to write lists, so here's my list of our latest news.
*as we were getting ready to play in Huntington Beach last night, i went to grab some sticks and couldn't find my stick bag, I guess I left it in Goleta. Fortunatly I had 1 extra pair in my stand bag. I've had that stick bag since highschool. Angel also left her pillow in Goleta. :(
* we went to some hot springs where I slipped on some moss, flew up in the air and landed on my elbow and back. Then I hit both knees on the door of the van...I''ve got a few bruises.
*Huntington Beach was our best show yet, even though there were only about 6 people there. Thanks to our friends Shira and Bobby for coming out and to Brendan for driving up from San Diego.
*The Goleta show was good as well, The Jealous Sound (who just played with The Foo Fighters) played and I would guess there were about 150 people there. All the bands (The Snake, The Cross, The Crown and Kissing Tigers) were great and everyone was really nice.
ok, that's it - thanks Shira for the place to stay!

we're sitting in Club 101 in El Paso...the show starts in a couple hours but we got here early, so we're just chillin', talking with the promoter and using their computer.
the drive wasn't too bad, other than almost hitting a couple deer, almost hitting a cat, and running over a weather balloon floating across the highway at 4AM...Angel thought it was a mini UFO. we got to Angel's parents' house at 6AM...they have a rockin' house..it's a warehouse converted into a home, so it's like a big loft. anyway, we slept alittle, then got up and drove to El Paso. everyone told us it is a really boring drive, but I thought it was alright...the scenery wasn't bad.
alright...we're gunna order a pizza and get ready to play. more soon

just played our CD release show...had a fun time, played with some really good bands, and the turnout was decent. i was alittle disappointed because there were a few people I was hoping would show up that didn't...not a huge deal, but it makes me wonder about the austin music scene...
...and that's all I'll say about that. anyway, thanks to everyone that DID show up...you guys rock and I hope you know that we appreciate the support. uhoh...i better go to bed before the cheese overtakes this entry...oh yah...thanks to shaka for selling the goods.

Well, our first two shows of tour were a success. On friday night, we played Norman, OK(mine and maggie's hometown) at the Opolis. Special Disaster Team opened and they rocked as usual....I guess that's why we always ask them to play with us when we go back to Norman. We were next...I think we played pretty well. I'm not totally used to my new guitar, which caused me to mess up a couple times(excuses, excuses), but I think only our old guitarist Kristen noticed(i hope). Euclid Crash closed out the night. I'd never seen these guys, but they were really good. They reminded me alot of Cruiserweight...some friends of ours from Austin.
It was a fun show. We still have a lot of friends in Norman, and most of them came out...those that didn't are in big trouble. Mike from The All-American Rejects was at the show, which was cool cuz we are all big Rejects fans...they've changed a lot since we used to play with them in Stillwater backyards, but it's definitely been a change for the better. We also did an interview with Norman's entertainment paper POP, so if you live in Norman keep an eye out for it.
On Saturday morning, we got up early, ate some bacon and took off for Kansas City. It was an easy drive and Angel is getting to see all kinds of new things....I think she said she's only been to Texas and Oklahoma(not counting the overseas stuff). We got to KC alittle early, so we went to a couple garage sales that we saw. Maggie bought a record player for $3...SCORE! We finally went over to New Earth, where they had a nice dinner of beans, rice and apple pie waiting for us....I love venues that feed the bands.
We played first, but luckily KC kids come out early to the shows so there were plenty of people there...although I was told it was kind of a low-turnout. It was ok though...there were over 100 kids, so I'm not complaining. During "Crazy" I ran over to Angel to rock with her and I pulled my chord out of my amp....that has never happened to me. No problem....we know that song well enough that I just ran to my amp, plugged back in and started up again, no mistakes...maybe I should consider wireless though. The other bands, Names without Number, One Last Hope and Fed Up, were all really good too. They all played different kinds of music, so it kept the show interesting.
After the show, we were very tempted to go eat at Waffle House with the other bands(we don't have Waffle Houses in Austin and I miss them)...but we decided we better just start the drive home. We stopped in Muskogee where we slept a few hours at my aunt and uncle's house and they took us to lunch(this journal if full of food references...i must be hungry), then we headed south. It was really hot, but we survived. We tried to stop at Lake Eufala to take a quick swim, but we couldn't find any place except the Marina which was full of speed boats...so we kept driving. We finally made it back to Austin....we're playing our CD release show tonight, then we head to El Paso and the rest of the tour on Thursday...i can't wait.

Today we got six big boxes of CDs...yeah..finally they're here!! Well, not all of them, since we are picking up 500 cds in Portland when we are there on tour...saves on shipping!! I was alittle worried that we were gunna go on tour without the new album, but luckily the guys at CD Forge on totally on the ball. woohoo.

We met Dennis Quaid today and gave him our CD. As he was driving away, he was blasting SDS from the stereo. I don't usually get to excited about celebrities, but it's cool to know that our CD went into his CD player instead of the trashcan...although I suppose it could be in the trash by now.
Maybe he'll really like us, and be at our CD Release show on June 23 at Emos (10pm). Probably not, but a girl can dream. We're also having a CD release in Norman, OK this Friday (June 20) at the Opolis. And if you live on the west coast, we might be playing a show near you. Check out the website for more details.

So...Maggie told me I needed to write a journal for the APR show. I haven't written a show journal in awhile, so i might be kinda rusty...ha.
Anyway, the show was a CD release party for the AustinPunkRock.com comp. We had a fun time and I think the turnout was pretty good. A Still Second played first. They put on a good show...I wish there had been a few more people there to see them. People were trickling in throughout the set, so by the time they finished there was a decent sized crowd. We played second. It was Angel's third show with us, and she rocked. She says she made a couple mistakes but I didn't hear any. Airtight Alibi was third. I hadn't seen them since the namechange. They sounded really good...very tight...and they looked like they were having alot of fun. Near Miss was next. I really like these guys. They don't play Austin much, so I was excited when I found out they were playing the show. Born to Lose was last. They are always a crowd-pleaser and tonight was no exception. They totally rocked out, and everyone rocked out with them.
Overall, it was a good show....plus the APR comp sounds great. Everyone should get one http://www.austinpunkrock.com thanks to lindsey for making it happen.

so after what seemed like endless months (really it was about 5) of designing cd cover art, getting together for pictures that never seemed to turn out, recording and waiting for the final master of the cd, and stressing about if we would ever be done, I think we are nearing the finish line. All of the files have been sent away to CD Forge, and if everything goes smoothly we can just sit back and wait for the finished copies to arrive on our doorstop. Hopefully they will be here in time for our summer tour. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed.) Our plan for self releasing the CD so that we would have total control of everything, including the release date (origonally april) didn't go quite as we planned.
i have more to say, but it's too late and i can't get it into words that make sense. i'm going to make sarah write a show journal about the APR.com show. It was a lot of fun.
